Bolzano Trento
My travels in this region are relatively recent, always in the beautiful season, and it has all been an alternation between history and nature. A land of valleys where nature is everywhere spectacular, starting with the Dolomites, a natural monument; in the western part, particularly in the Adamello Brenta park, you can encounter wildlife, primarily the brown bear, but also wolves, lynxes, and other species rarely seen elsewhere. A land rich in medieval castles and places to visit: Trento, Bolzano, and many small villages that, especially in winter, dress up for the holidays and come alive with Christmas markets. The cuisine is flavorful and hearty as required by the mountains. As a first course, I prefer Spatzle, Tyrolean dumplings seasoned in various ways; as a second course, the Potato Tortei from Val di Non; for dessert, an Apple Strudel or Buckwheat Cake. Of the wines, I prefer the Aromatic Traminer, a white wine whose wonderful vineyards I have also admired.
